What do you have to do for a renewal application ?

Type B and fix-termi single permits can be extended if

  • the employment contract is extended
  • the worker is on a permanent contract.

You must then apply for a renewal. The worker must still have the right to reside in Belgium

Please note: Some jobs are time limited : trainee (1 year), specialist technician (6 months), seasonal worker (5 months).

After several renewals and under certain conditions, the worker can obtain an unlimited work permit. The worker submits this request.

 

When should the application for the renewal be made?

You must apply for a renewal :

  • At most 2 months and at least 1 month before the current type B permit expires. 
  • At most 4 months and at least 2 months before the current fix-term single permit expires. 

Fix-term single permit :how should the renewal application be made?

For the single permit, the renewal application must be entered online and the supporting documents submitted on the Working in Belgium federal portal. 

Please send us the following documents :

  • the application form - this is automatically generated when the fisrt application is made
  • a copy of a valid passport for the worker; 
  • a copy of their identity card or that of their representative; 
  • a copy of the payslips or payroll statements for the entire preceding period 
  • A copy of the employement contrat  or, failing that, another other document proving sufficient means of subsistence
  • Proof that the worker has health insurance covering all risks in Belgium for himself and his family members 
  • In the event of secondment: proof of registration in the LIMOSA register.

Other documents that must be attached depending on the category of worker are not required if they have remained unchanged since they were submitted with the initial application.

The Wallonia Public Service will verify whether the regulations, employment conditions and terms of the employment contract were complied with during the previous employment.

Type B permit : how should the renewal application be made?

You complete the application form and you submit this form by email (permisdetravail.entreprises@spw.wallonie.be ).

Please send us the following documents :

  • the application form
  • a copy of a valid passport for the worker; 
  • a copy of their identity card or that of their representative; 
  • a copy of the payslips or payroll statements for the entire preceding period 
  • A copy of the employement contrat 

Other documents that must be attached depending on the category of worker are not required if they have remained unchanged since they were submitted with the initial application.
